Flight booked!

Finally I booked my flight - well that was a week or so ago, but it is done. It will be a one month trip. Unfortunately I have to be back in Germany to prepare for my trip to IDEX Florida end of January.

There will be so much to do when I get to Bali that I can not really call it a holiday. I need to find a home, even if only temporary. And I need to get Sara enrolled in school. Besides everything else that has to do with the business. But I do hope to get at least two weeks of R & R.

This decision of mine to move to Bali has been put to the test. Someone has been making my decision very very difficult. That person knows who I mean...... I think. But I will stick to this decision. I have to. I do know that there is someone who looks forward to my leaving Germany - and that is not only me!

Still here......

And so much to do. I should not complain! But I just have too much work.
It is so cold here.... in Germany......

First steps.....

Well Sara has left.... The first steps to our move have been made. Now I just need to generate cash, cash and more cash and then I can follow at the end of November!!

Where I will finally end up I do not know, but it will be the Island of Bali!

Change of plans.....

I have a avid reader who indicated that there are some corrections to be made. So here is that one correction: my daughter Sara is still here in Germany and going to school here till Fall break in October. Mid October she is flying to Bali with my Dad to enjoy her short holiday before starting school on Bali.
I am off the the US first and then mid November I will be joining my daughter on Bali.

In limbo.....

AAARRRGGHHH!!

Becuase flights have kind of become a little costly my plans to move have been pushed out to October! And this only because I am flying next week to the US and in September to the US for business!!

Sucks, sucks, sucks !!!!

Not only will I have to dig out the sweaters (ouch) and wool under shirts (I freeze when someone tells me it is only 10 degrees outside - 50 Fahrenheit), but I will be separated from my daughter for two months. She is flying mid August!!

tick tock....

Argh.... time is just whizzing by and I still have so much to do before I can finalize my move.
Still need to get my tax papers organized, go to my tax accountant to figure out how to keep my business set up here in Germany, need money urgently!!!, visa needs to be paid, housing???

And my regular work does not come to a halt either.

But the good news is that as soon as I get my $600 to my visa agent on Bali that will be one less thing to worry about.

Visa and housing....

Tania - little sister - tells me she has someone to help me get the visas for me and Sara sorted out. I tell her I need a confirmation from this guy - URGENTLY - that I have started my visa application.

One week goes by and I still have nothing!!! What is it with some people..... do I have to define the word URGENT!!! I even told her that I needed the information before the weekend - that was last week.

I know I should relax because this is how things work in Indonesia - they say. But when money is needed it can't come fast enough.

What about where to live? I will have to look for a place on my own..... at the rate this is going I will probably end up living in a cardboard box.

Getting worried? Me? No - not yet anyway....

Chaos....???

After - how many weeks??? - this is what it looked like the weekend before last...
How did I get all my books in that book case?? If you can call it a case....

Yesterday I helped Mike (the guy who is renting my house) paint the walls. Well one wall and start the kitchen wall. Were my walls really that yellow??? They were supposed to be white - but after two coats of white wall paint I definitely can say they were far from white!!

finally....?

Well most of my stuff is out of my house, only two boxes, a few shelves and three items of furniture (one of which is going to be donated to my antique dealer in return for repairing my table)!

Now my office looks like home - well almost. Part of my stuff is here in my office (in my parent's basement), some of it in the guest room I am occupying in my parent's home, some in boxes in my warehouse (also my parent's basement) - yes that which I did not lend to my friends (indefinitely) or sold at the flea market is here in my parent's home.

NOT to my amazement most of the things that my daughter and I packed are staying here. Going to Bali eventually - 4 boxes of toys, 4 boxes kitchen stuff and 1 box of my private "can't part from" stuff.

I wonder how many boxes I will be packing from my office to go to Bali??

Well at least on the other end (other side of the equator) things seem to moving along - Tania found someone to help me get my visa as well as one for Sara. Now I have got to start making a decision on schooling. AND then...... a home/office/warehouse.... ARGHhh....

Geez.... the amount of junk that a person manages to stuff into one house over a period of 11 years!!!

This picture shows only a few of the boxes. But now one week later it seems that there is no end to the stuff that I am carrying out of the house.

And this is a tiny house 57 square meter or 613 square feet. No basement!!!! How did I do it!!! It just seems that I kept putting things into the house and never taking it out.

And the books!!! How many books did I collect over the years. I always knew that I had a thing for books, but this is crazy. And shoes.... well the shoes only fill two boxes. My books fill three boxes and a whole book case in the room that I am occupying at my parents house till I move to Bali.

It is sort of depressing really. Every evening I go to my house and pack. At night I come back to my parents place (where my office is in the basement by the way) - no going home for me.... I have no home at the moment.... boo hoo!!!

Ok - off to bed now!

Moving out soon.....

I have ordered boxes to pack my stuff - so will be moving out of my beloved house soon. This is the first step towards moving to Bali.

Second thoughts..... not really but now it means I have to get cracking: visa, schooling for Sara, packing up the really necessary items from my office, tax papers to get finished before I leave, oh my........... housing, what do I really need of my private things when I get there..... what can I leave to ship later.

This is going to add heavily to my already huge work load.

Decision finalized.......

My decision to leave Germany and go to Indonesia is not a new one. About three years ago I thought of moving to Jakarta, Indonesia. But after researching and figuring out where to live - ie housing I thought why leave my paradise for Jakarta where I most likely would end up living in an apartment! And anyone who knows me that that is not my idea of living - unless I had a huge terrace!

So now my idea is to move to Bali - I can work from there just as well as from Jakarta. Even if the factory is in Jakarta, flying is cheap.

So Bali it is. Now all I have to figure out is how to set up shop there.
